Ned Kelly Countr Holidayy
If you visit Glenrowan, you may possibly receive the most important dose of local history and heritage that could possibly be assembled in one location, about one individual. Australia’s most famed bushranger Ned Kelly, is pretty much enshrined as a underdog folk hero of mammoth proportions. Head to Ned Kelly country with Campervan Hire Australia and gear up to be confounded.
Glenrowan was the location of the culmination of one of the greatest manhunts in Australian history and the shoot out and siege that occurred, was a bloodthirsty event by any standards. The murder of the Kelly Gang and the capture of Ned Kelly, is maybe one of the most infamous events in Australian history, as is the constant barrage of fire that ensued until the gang was dead.
The virtually never-ending souvenirs and ‘Kellyana ‘ will take a while to see, however it's all fascinating and raises some questions as to if/how the level of police aggravation of the Kelly family, resulted in the whole bloody fiasco. Drawing your own conclusions is all part of the experience though. You can also explore the location of the siege at your leisure.
Glenrowan is also home to some consequential vineyards, which can be overlooked in the rush to soak up the Ned Kelly heritage. Baileys of Glenrowan really had a vineyard planted well before the Kelly Gang even existed, so drop in and look, or a little taste of what's on offer. There are many basement doors waiting to be visited in the wine region, and a highlight of the wine scene is the Winemaker’s Weekend in October.
Glenrowan is literally guarded by a six metre high statue of Ned Kelly, so you may know you are in the right spot, but consider visiting some of the local orchards as well for some fresh stone fruits if you are visiting in the Spring. You may be guaranteed of a great day out, so enjoy!

The 50 Greatest Love Songs $14.66 It’s a shame that only one side of Elvis’ multi-faceted talent is remembered 25 years on from his death but there is so much more to the millennium’s greatest performer than garish jump suits and shaky legs. The 50 Greatest Love Songs reminds us what a great singer Presley was; coming from the heart with more feeling and passion than most could ever imagine, all 50 of these songs are classics of t… |

Two Men With The Blues $5.20 Two Men with the Blues is no more a jazz album than a blues album. It’s neither jazz returning home, nor blues wandering out. What Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis have created is a compilation of jump-blues standards with arrangements that compliment both genres. While most of the album is careful not to take itself too seriously, there are a few tracks that seem to plod on for ages. The live se… |

North by Northwest $8.49 A strong candidate for the most sheerly entertaining and enjoyable movie ever made by a Hollywood studio (with Citizen Kane, Only Angels Have Wings and Trouble in Paradise running neck and neck). Positioned between the much heavier and more profoundly disturbing Vertigo (1958) and the stark horror of Psycho (1960), North by Northwest (1959) is Alfred Hitchcock at his most effervescent in a romanti… |
