One Sunshiny Summer Day In August
They settled comfortably on the kitchen bar stools sipping their iced tea. They watched the children right outside on the patio. The two girls were coloring together and sipping fruit juice in plastic glasses.
There were about a dozen coloring books lying on the table and crayons rolled off the table occasionally. They chattered as little girls will do and stopped to show each other the pictures they were coloring. Inside, on the other side of the patio door, their moms discussed how school was starting soon.
One thing they needed in their climate was a raincoat, boots and umbrella. It rained frequently. They talked about the bright colors that were now available. They wondered what colors the girls would want to buy.
The mothers both like to shop in the same stores and planned to go to the mall together for school supplies. The school sent a list of what each child should bring. They were asked to buy school supplies, craft supplies and tissues to share with the whole class.
The list included crayons, pencils, magic markers and paper of all kinds. One thing they planned to purchase was a loft bed with desk for the bedroom. This would encourage great study and reading habits as the girls grew older.
This type of bed is convenient in several ways. It saves floor space and the desk gives storage space. They planned to go shopping together. Three or four furniture stores in the area sold loft beds.
The safety of the girls was most important. Then, the bed had to look good. The kids could choose from among the appropriate ones.
The neighbors planned a shopping trip to the furniture stores and the local mall. They wanted to get school things while they were on sale. They knew the girls would want to stop for ice cream on the way home.
They loved staring at all the flavors behind the glass counter at the ice cream store. They always had such a hard time choosing. It was best to stop for ice cream after shopping because they would be sticky after eating the ice cream.
After work, one of the dads sat with his wife, relaxing on the modern bar stools, and talked about the shopping trip. They ate salad and drank lemonade as they discussed the wisdom of buying a loft bed for their daughter. The set a budget for the school clothes that were so quickly outgrown.
Agreeing on an amount, they grew excited about the loft bed and how it would save space in the bedroom. The storage space was an added bonus. Why buy a separate bed and desk when it was available in one compact unit.
