ERROR- Incorrect File Path Nancy Drew?
I’ve tried EVERYTHING!!! I’ve reinstalled it too many times to count I reinstalled it as Administrater and I even shut down my virus system I’ve tried everything!!! My Computer is a dell laptop and I don’t know more than that. also when I try to search the game Nancy Drew on my sytem it doesn’t say its there. what am I doing wrong!?!?!?!!
I have had this problem many times too. It’s more common with older games.
What you have to do is uninstall it completely: there will still be data left over from an attempted installation. Search My Computer(or just Computer), Recycle Bin, and the Start Menu. If you find anything about the game you tried to install, uninstall that file or delete it. Note: if you delete it, it will most likely go to the Recycle Bin, so you might have to delete the file twice.
Next, go to My Computer, then go to documents. Click New Folder and name the folder the title of the game you are trying to install. Example: Message in a Haunted Mansion. Then click enter and the folder should be saved.
Next, put the disk into your computer. If nothing happens, there are two ways to solve this problem. 1. Go to Start, then go to Run, and search setup.exe and the installation will come up. 2. Go to My Computer, go to DVD Drive, then select setup.exe and the installation will appear.
Now that the installation is up, continue clicking Next until you get to the page where it says what file you would like to save the game to. Click browse, then go to My Computer>Documents>the file you created before with the title of the game. Example: My Computer>Documents>Message in a Haunted Mansion. Then click next and continue with the installation.
If you know you already have DirectX, make sure you select Do Not Install DirectX, I Will Install It Myself. If you know you don’t, then select Yes, Install DirectX. If you have played another Nancy Drew game before on the computer you are using, you will most likely have DirectX. Also, make sure you select Reccomended Installation.
Then your game should work just fine!
