Totally agree with CrystalRT5.
I read so many of those books when I was in the third and fourth grades. What am I saying? I probably read them up through the seventh grade. I was also a fan of the Sweet Valley Twins series (which, now that I look back on it, was only marginally better than the Baby-Sitters Club series).
If you have a girl who isn’t into reading, these series might be a way to draw her in. But they are terribly formulaic and hokey. They are in no way great lit. Let her get into the series for a year or so, but then try to have her “graduate” to classics like A Little Princess, The Secret Garden, Little Women, The Bell Jar, Catcher in the Rye, Where the Red Fern Grows and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.
