MY SISTER IS REPORTING BACK TO DUTY AGAIN. She has used up all and over extended her maternity vacation already. She goes back to work – fronto – or don’t come back, forever. Sister’s present predicament is who will take care of her baby. Not one baby-sitter has applied for the job, not just yet. Who will take care of my nephew? “I’ll do it”, I said. She asked if I am sure. I said, of course I am sure. The jobs too important for Sis. “Sis, Mom’s just there to call when I need advise”, I told her confidently. My sister needed no more convincing. She hugged me while thanking me profusely.
That’s correct. Me, I’m her brother. I really care about my sister. I would hate myself if she loses her job. But still, a single guy like me taking care of a baby? That night, I read all the free baby magazines I can find. The magazine was very much helpful and informative. The magazine gives complete, step-by-step instructions on caring of a toddler. Overnight, just overnight, I learned a lot already.
I’m not really new when it comes to this things. I had my share on taking care of my two little brother when they were still babies but I am no expert either. What I needed is to brush up a little. I was astounded and yet glad that the free baby magazines helped a lot. There are plenty of information I manage learn. I stock up my knowledge on how to take care of babies in its initial months.
The next day, I am at the door of my sister, all ready for the responsibility. Everything I read in the magazine came in a handy. My sister was impressed coming back from work. My sister said she didn’t know I was this good in taking care of infants. I might say that, from that day on, I never stopped reading the free baby magazines. To tell you frankly, I was enjoying it. I went on and improved my knowledge. Days, weeks and months quickly passed by and finally a baby-sitter was hired. What’s so amusing about it? You might have guessed. It was me again who personally handpicked and trained my replacement. That’s how much my sister trusted my expertise in child caring. My final advise to the baby-sitter? Read as many free baby magazines as you can.
